LS1 F-bodies do not come with a true dual exhaust from the factory.  Just after the headers, the exhaust is combined into one tube using a Y-pipe.  This single tube runs all the way to a dual-outlet muffler which provides two tailpipes for the rear.  These clips show true dual exhaust conversions, where the factory system is completely replaced.

There are basically two different dual exhaust setups that are available, the difference being the style of crossover pipe used.  A crossover pipe will produce more power and better sound than not using one!  In a nutshell, the X-pipe will give you better horsepower and torque and the H-pipe will give you better sound:

X-pipe examples: South FL, DVST8OR 1 & 2, and Y2KSS.
H-pipe examples: Lanes/Mac

The exhaust pipes can either be dumped before the axle, or taken all the way out the back of the car.  Dumps before the axle is the cheaper of the two, and should cost you less than $500 plus headers.  Dumps flow well and make great power, but are very loud inside the cabin and they resonate badly.  Taking the pipes all the way out the back of the car will be more expensive; going under the axle is slightly cheaper than going over the axle.  You can start out with a setup dumped before the axles, and if it's too loud you can always have it extended to go all the way out the back.

Dumped systems can use 3" pipe throughout.  If your car is lowered or you want to run the pipes all the way to the back, you should consider staying with a 2.5" system.  You can also go 3" to the X- or H-pipe, then reduce it to 2.5" to fit over the axles.  Both sized flow well enough to support tons of horsepower.  Choose your piping based on fitment and clearance, not power.
